Coastal Wetland Restoration Plant Factsheets

Cover Image

About the project

This project quantified the functionality, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of different coastal restoration designs at the Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, comparing plots planted with nursery-grown plugs to plots made of natural marsh, both with and without offshore breakwaters.

About this resource

Plant selection is one of the most important decisions for a successful shoreline restoration project. These factsheets provide information on wetland plants including pictures, environmental tolerances, informational websites, and helpful tips for planting.

This document is originally located here on the Mississippi State University Extension's website.

This resource was developed as part of a collaborative research project that monitored and evaluated coastal restoration designs at the Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.
