Strong fishery-related businesses buoy coastal communities in the face of natural hazards and disasters. In Alaska, coastal climate change impacts are occurring at a rate that is challenging the ability of resource-dependent businesses to respond and adapt. A collaborative project led by the Kachemak Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve created tools to support climate adaptation planning for Alaska fishery industry businesses and the communities that depend on them.

This focus group instrument was designed to gather qualitative information to evaluate business resilience self-assessment products for Alaska's fishery industry. It includes methodology, recruitment strategy, consent forms, pre-delivery checklist, script, and data analysis and reporting guidelines. This template can be used by coastal resilience leaders to facilitate other similar focus groups in coastal communities across Alaska.
