The Pacific Northwest Blue Carbon Working Group has been bringing together wetland managers, resource managers and decision makers in Washington and Oregon to advance coastal blue carbon since 2014.
About this resource
Two conferences led by the PNW Blue Carbon Working Group and its partners in October 2019 shared results from recent blue carbon projects: Quantification and Dissemination of Carbon Stocks Data for Pacific Northwest Tidal Wetlands, and Feasibility Planning for Pacific Northwest Blue Carbon Finance Projects. The first project conducted the first-ever comprehensive blue carbon stock assessment in Pacific Northwest tidal wetlands and generated a user-friendly database of regional blue carbon data. The second provided a framework to assess the feasibility of including carbon finanace in funding strategies that support the conservation and restoration of tidal wetlands, eelgrasses, and coastal lowland sea level rise buffer areas in the Pacific Northwest.
